Ice Cold Kate's

While on their first date, Kate and Ben quickly learned that they both had an interest for World War II history.  Ice Cold Katy was the name of a B-17 bomber that flew in World War II and the inspiration for the name of their adventure.

Winter 1944

The squadron's somber mood was heavier than the cigarette smoke that filled the tent.  The same make-shift tent which now served as our base of operations.  Men were still dousing flames from the previous night's bombing raid.  Damn Luftwaffe.  Our morning briefing was underway.  Rumors spread that General Patton was charging north to enter a battle which could determine the fate of the German army. Just as I was learning of our fresh targets for yet another suicide mission, an escort for the B-17's, a bombing run into the very heart of Germany, my phone rang.... wait.... how did a phone get in here... wait..where am I?  Oh yeah.  I'm at my desk.  At work.  In central Pennsylvania. And its not 1944. 

Spring 2014

It's actually late March. No longer freezing but still no visible signs of spring.  The phone call was my brother, asking what time to expect me at his place.   " I just hope it doesn't feel awkward," I said, putting down my glass and nervously crushing chunks of ice with my molars.  "Relax.  Its just a date.   Even you can manage to act normal for an hour, right?"  Then, with furrowed eyebrows, my mind tried to comprehend focusing on being normal a full sixty minutes.  I whispered out loud, "I'm screwed."  He laughed as he pushed me out the door.  I was headed out on my first date. My first date with Kate.

Kate and Ben quickly learned they shared interests other than just daydreaming of adventures.  Lots of them.  Love of dogs was a biggie.  Camping, hiking, oysters on the half shell, aviation, WWII history...and on and on and on.  They feel one of their closest similarities is that they just can't sit still for very long. 

They didn't feel it necessary to bore you with details such as their astrological signs and CV.
